Emotions Match and Write
This resource includes six pages of cards (four cards per page) in color with a total of 24 cards. Each card has a child's head showing an emotion and the word for the emotion is written under the picture. Teachers should copy the cards on cardstock (for durability and saving for future years) or plain paper, laminate (if desired), and cut apart.
Students can play a matching game by turning all of the cards over in rows and taking turns turning two cards over one at the time. The key to this is to remember where each card is if students do not get a match showing the same emotion. When students do get a match for the same emotion, they keep the cards and take another turn. The person at the end to have the most matches is the winner. There are 12 emotions in all and six colors are used for the cell phones which means that two different emotions are the same color. Students need to look at the emotion and the color to make sure they have the correct match.
Feel free to change the rules to the game to match your needs.
Students will also get two sheets numbered 1-6 and 7-12. As a match is made, have students write a sentence including the emotion word shown on the cards.
***There are eight total pages: 6 card pages and 2 sentence writing pages.
The PREVIEW shows every page included.
This activity is great for a center or for early finishers.
I hope your students have fun with this match and write activity.
