This is a mini-unit on one of my favorite strategies to revise a narrative piece of writing. I always open 5th grade with a narrative essay. This is one of the strategies I teach that shows students how to bring their emotions/details to life.

This resource contains 3 different activities/lessons that guides students on what body language is, and how to use them in describing an emotion. Students get the chance to act out different scenarios, and then jot down their reactions.

Included in the mini-unit are:
- a direct lesson worksheet on body language
- Emotion Timelines
- 6 scenes for students to act out to practice writing out their emotions through SHOWING their body language, rather than just TELLING their readers how they feel

An answer key is included for the direct lesson worksheet.

Each activity also has suggested directions on how to use. However, please implement the activities in your classroom as you see fit.
