Get your students up and moving with this fun QR Code Scavenger Hunt! This activity is perfect teaching about employee benefits. This file includes 20 QR Codes that when scanned link to a plain text clue. When students scan the QR code they will be given a description of an employee benefit. They will then identify the employee benefit or calculation answer (found on another clue). This activity is a great way to practice employee benefit terminology and get students thinking and collaborating. Students can work individually or in small groups based on your discretion.
Employee benefits covered in this activity: health insurance, 401(k), 403(b), defined benefit plan, stock options, educational reimbursements, commission, PTO, paid holidays, FMLA, Social Security and Medicare, scheduling changes, Flexible Spending Account, dental insurance, and Cafeteria-Style Employee Benefits.
Other clues require students to calculate the amount contributed to a 401(k) with a match, amount contributed to Social Security and Medicare by an employer when provided with a total contributed by the employee, and total value of a compensation package including base salary and employee benefits.
At the conclusion of the activity, 7 reflection questions are provided. I like to print the QR codes on colored paper and laminate. This way they are ready to go and can be used again each semester.
Included in the PDF:

-Clue and Answer List

-Student Answer Reporting Sheet & Reflection Questions Key

•Print each of the following slides and an answer recording sheet for each student.
•Cut each slide in half so there is one QR code per sheet of paper.
•Mix up the cards so that they are NOT in the same order you printed them. Hang the QR codes around the classroom, a hallway, or the school. Allow more time for a larger area.
•Decide if you would like students to complete the activity individually, with a partner, or a small group. Assign partner(s) if desired.
•Ensure students have access to a QR code reader on a device. This can be completed with a phone, tablet, or laptop, as long as it has a camera.
•Instruct students that they can start at any QR code. They will scan the code to read the clue. They will then look around the room, hallway, or school to find the answer to the clue on another card. Be sure to tell students that the answer on the card should match the previous clue and it is not the answer to the clue on the same card. Students will move around the room, hallway, or school, recording each answer on the recording sheet.
•Students should record the business-related career for each clue. The first group to record all answers correctly is the winner.
•Close with a discussion about correct answers.
