A student tested, fun Substitute lesson with everything ready to go! I came up with this lesson when I needed to take a day unexpectedly. We were in the middle of our Art Elements Review so this lesson worked great because it uses Line, Color, Shape and Positive and Negative space as well as the Design Principles: Repetition, Unity and Balance. This lesson is easy, yet concept rich enough to be used as an Art Elements and Design Principles project as well. Another great use for this design is to keep it have on hand for when students need a "Time Filler" project to work on if they finish their art projects way before everyone else (always happens doesn't it?!!). The design takes some concentration to create so noise levels should be low when students work on these. This lesson will most likely take two days to complete so it's a great lesson if you are out sick for more than one day too. ( but...I hope you wont need it for that! Uck flu season!)
This product includes:
-Lesson Plan with National CORE Visual Arts Standards
-Step by Step Procedure for sub to follow to explain the procedure for creating the designs
-Step-by-Step handout for students
-Printable worksheet ready-to-go!
-Colorful student examples
-a second project variation that is easier as a Special Education Accommodation or second option if preferred with Step-by-Step handout too!
-2 helpful resource handouts to assist students with generating line design ideas if needed.
My students said they really enjoyed this. None of them finished it on the day I was gone but I have seen many students go back to it when they end up with some free time because they still want to finish it. It's a keeper!
