This is a comprehensive Literacy Design Collaborative instructional packet. This packet includes a 22-day unit exploring both Patriot and Loyalist literature written between the 1700s and late 1800s. Students discover and discuss literature that supports independence from England and continued dependence to England and King George.
Through the unit students take notes and complete assignments that will develop a strong argument either for or against the above. Finally, students will create a pamphlet, in the styling's of Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" and present their findings in support of their argument.
This packet is aligned with both CCIS for English III (American Literature) and the argumentative module for the Learning Design Collaborative.
Within this unit each day's literature and activities have been planned and mapped out for your convenience. In addition to the easy calendar layout, the unit lists objectives and standards pertaining to each activity.
