Build reading skills for all levels of readers with a fun activity designed to encourage students to make friends with books and fall in love with reading! Each of the projects in the Fall in Love with Reading series is unique and simple, and all of the finished activities may be used for engaging bulletin boards! The projects are appropriate for a range of grade levels and reading proficiency levels (including reluctant readers), and they are designed to engage students in activities that facilitate successful completion and positive experiences with books, reading, and learning. This project from the series engages students in finding a recipe from a cookbook, preparing the food (with adult supervision as needed) and completing a recipe template with a picture of the food. The 'book share/recipe/photo" records may be shared with others and posted on a fun reading-share bulletin board.
I use one of the Fall in Love with Reading projects each month, and students love them. We keep track of the number of projects completed in the school year and celebrate our reading achievements at the end of the year!
