Students will enjoy practicing multiplication, division, and word problems while also learning about famous authors and books in this high-interest, cross-curriculum unit.
Two activity pages feature addition and subtraction word problems that are camouflaged with captivating historical events. By answering short problems, students are led to record specific events and dates on various time lines provided.
Four activity pages have students answer multiplication and division computations that correspond to a letter in the accompanying code box. Once strung together, these letters form a word for an author. To conclude the lesson, students are charged with finding that author in an encyclopedia or online resource, and then writing several sentences on the person.
