This “Dive Into the Book” review game for Here Lies the Librarian by Richard Peck is a fun way to end a study of this book. There are 28 quotes from the book that students will have to search the text and practice close reading to find. Students are paired together to form teams of two. Using only the book, their brains, and their novel study packets (optional), students must determine who said each of the quotes listed on the 2-page game sheets. The team with the highest number of correct answers wins! In the case of a tie, the team who submitted its papers first is the big winner. The racing element helps keep students on task.
The race alone will take about 20-30 minutes of class time. You can turn this into a 40-minute activity by going over the answers after all teams have completed the activity and submitted their papers to you.
This review game is included in my novel study packet for Here Lies the Librarian. If you have purchased my novel study, you DO NOT NEED to buy this game - it is included.
