This end of the school year activity helps students to reflect back on their experiences while predicting their futures. Whether the students' teacher mails or gives the letters to them one year or years later, or the students take the letters home to open at a specific date, this activity gives them a chance to reach across time and to encourage themselves in the future. This product includes a checklist for students to follow, along with a sample letter. The checklist touches on present elements such as the students' teachers; interests; favorite activities, favorite colors, and favorite music; and after school activities. It also challenges students to predict what classes they will take in middle or high school and what they will do after high school. (This particular activity focuses on the students' goals in eighth grade, but the teacher can modify the grade based on when the students will receive or open the letters.)
