End the semester or school year with a bang!
As you know of course students in eleventh grade English read and study American literature.
Our history has created some beautiful stories! We English III teachers closely resemble history teachers in this class!
End the semester or school year with a project that will help them to review the timeline of literary periods, which taught your students how American literature evolved from diaries and pamphlets to psychological thrillers and romantic novels.
This portfolio assignment will give your students such a task!
Students will be able to choose a specific literary period from a list. From there, they are instructed to create a twenty-slide PowerPoint based on different elements such as the style of writing and lasting influences.
Rather than regurgitate information from their notes, students are asked to select at least two literary works from their selected literary period to provide concrete examples of all the required elements.
Students can be as creative as artists if they want to with this portfolio as they are required to imbed a short video, audio music to set an atmosphere, create a movie poster to “sell” their literary period and much more!
Also included is a list of literary works and authors often read in English III that students can choose from.
Lastly, I have included a short PowerPoint any teacher can use to quickly discuss and explain the portfolio assignment.
You can choose for students to create this portfolio in groups to present to their peers on a specified date or students can work individually and you alone can view their final PowerPoint.
Allow your students to demonstrate to you all that you have taught them in an intelligent, creative way!
