This is an End-of-Semester Project for beginning Chemistry students. Students will select examples of their work and reflect on their performance. From their body of work, students will select "proudest moments" and "not-so-proud moments" to honestly reflect their performance in the class. Students are also asked to write a 2-4 page "analysis" of their experience and to determine how they can improve in the following semester. Once their portfolios are completed, students will present selections from their portfolio to the class. Rubric for the portfolio and presentation are included.
I have used this portfolio project in my Chemistry class for many years. Students like going through their old assignments and remembering their successes and missteps. The presentations that follow are great for individual students to share their experiences with the class. It is a great classroom community builder for everyone!
Although I used it for Chemistry, it is easily adaptable for all courses, science and non-science alike!
