This is a perfect activity to do during those last few weeks of school! I begin by reminding my students that we have had a GREAT year, and as a class, we have accomplished MANY things. Each and every person in the class has contributed to our overall success in several ways. There have been many times I’ve seen students helping one another, being kind to one another, sharing with one another, being respectful and courteous…the list goes on and on. In other words, TOGETHER, WE HAVE SOARED! TOGETHER, WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED FAR MORE THAN WE WOULD HAVE ON OUR OWN. Now it’s time to celebrate that! How? Why not with an awards ceremony that we all work on TOGETHER!

1. Students draw the name of a classmate.

2. Each student completes a brainstorming paper.

3. Each student writes a rough draft of the award he/she intends to give his/her classmate.

4. Each students creates a kite award for their classmate!

Each student presents the kite award he/she created during a CLASS AWARDS CEREMONY.

This pack even includes another optional "Compliments Cloud" activity that you can choose to do following the Awards Ceremony. Clouds are attached to the kites, and then passed around the classroom. Each student writes a compliment or kind note to their classmates.

Student-friendly directions (with photos) are included so that you can place the directions under your document camera, and students can refer to them as they complete the project.
