These are 14 fun writing prompts and brain breaks related to history/social studies to get your students enjoying some creative writing at the end of the school year.
Sample prompts include:
-Think about all the national holidays we celebrate. If you could take one off the calendar what would it be and why? Now you have to add a holiday on to the calendar. What kind of national holiday should we celebrate and why?
-On Mount Rushmore, Washington, Jefferson, T. Roosevelt, and Lincoln are represented. What would each of them think about America today compared to the America they knew? You must write a solid 1-2 paragraphs for each president.
-List the 3 presidents you think were the best, and the 3 you think were the worst. How are you defining best and how are you defining worst? Explain why each president is on the list you put him on.
-Pick one modern invention (from after 1900) to bring back to introduce to people living in 1700 or earlier. What would you choose and why?
