For us school counselors and School Based Therapists (SBTs), the end of the school year can be a difficult transition for our little clients. You have worked hard all year to establish a trusting and safe relationship with them, and more likely than not, you have become someone they rely on and seek for comfort. It is extremely important to address changes in the therapeutic relationship with them, if that means ending until next school year, transitioning to a different form of therapy for the summer, or termination.
One way to work toward that transition is to revisit the client’s goals. Allow them to reflect on what they have achieved as a way to see that they have made progress. This can help boost their self-esteem and ease the fear and unease that can come along with change for kids.
This Product includes a medium for you and your clients to work on reflecting on what their goals were and how they achieved them or made progress. Also included is a fun certificate of achievement to give to your client at the end of their treatment for the year :)
