What better way to end the year, than with a "bring your stuffed animal to school" day - where the students can "teach" them everything they've learned this year! My kids had a blast reading to them, playing math games with them, and of course showing them their writing journals.
Then - the fun for me part :) That afternoon, I had the students leave their stuffed animals on their desks to have a sleepover.
Imagine their faces when the came in the next morning and I announced that their animals did what most kids do at a sleepover - DIDN'T SLEEP.
They did, however, fall asleep having too much fun. Their animals fell asleep gathered around an empty pizza box, playing inside recess games, reading books, writing on the white board, etc. Oh the shock!!
The writing they produced was AWESOME. They authored these "wild sleepover" books - where they made inferences and drew conclusions about what the animals did throughout the night.
This can also a great class reward for anytime during the year!!
