Includes a fun differentiated maths, two part project for grade 4, 5 and 6 students.
It serves as more than a thematic activity and requires students to use maths skills and higher order thinking skills to plan a party.
In part 1, students work individually or in groups on differentiated maths planning black line masters. NOTE: This can be done for fun and without a party to follow. The tasks are as follows and are linked to their relevant maths concept:
* Party Location - coordinates
* Food and Drinks - operations and measurement
* Decorations - length and diameter
* Music - time
* Game - all math concepts
* Party Craft - length
* Favours - time and operations
* Party Count Down - time
* Party Invitations - symmetry
If you decide to have a real party, in part two students use the information from part 1 to prepare for the party!
This pack contains:
•“Plan a Party” teacher’s notes.
•“Plan a Party” black line masters.
•An easier version of the project for different levels of abilities.
•Challenge questions for different levels of abilities.
•“Prepare for a Party” teacher’s notes.
•“Prepare for a Party” black line masters.
Some coloured options are also available.
NOTE: This project is designed to make teaching easy for you and requires your students to do the work to plan a class party. Most of the preparation requires paper and cardboard and there are only a few extra resources required. It is generic enough to suit a range of different types of class parties. Certain black line masters can also be taken out if you wish not to include an element in your party.
