At the end of each year I usually hand out a piece of construction paper to my 4th graders, tell them to make a trifold, and then give them these different categories for the 6 sections:
*Things to know about our classroom
*Things to know about our grade level
*Things to know about your new teacher
*Things we learned this year
The 6th section was for a greeting with the student's name on the cover.
This year my class needs a little extra help with creating the brochures, so I typed them up and added a little clip art. I made up 2 different templates, and 2 different choices of clipart for the welcome area. Just print back to back whatever template you would like to use, then fold, and it should be ready to go.
Pages 2-3 Super Hero
Pages 4-5 Robot
After my class creates the brochures, I give them to the 3rd grade teachers to pass around their classroom. It would also work great to save them to share with your new class the first week of school.
I hope this helps someone. Please visit my blog to see how I use this in my own classroom - both as a project with construction paper and with this template.
