This is a fun and quick End of Year review activity associated with common core 6-8 vocabulary and figurative language terms.
To break up the everyday feeling of test prep I let my students complete vocabulary games!
Note: You will need four small items students can grab and to tape letter on each in order to play this game. You can play inside or outside.
Directions: Place students in teams first. Students should be placed on one side of the field and have a line they need to stay behind. One person from each team will come to the line and the teacher will read a multiple choice question to the students. They will then run to the other side and grab the correct answer choice. First person to bring the correct answer back to the teacher gets a point for their team.
Note- For my class I simply bought four colored buckets from the Dollar Store and taped a different letter on each, A B C D. Then I put them on the ground at the point they were racing to. The answer choices can be posted on a wall on in index card or on big blocks that you find at an art supply store or Walmart. You could also use different colored cones or balls if your school has any.
