Every year after successfully completing those stressful, state-mandated exams, teachers seek out fun and meaningful projects to complete with their students for the remainder of the year. That was exactly what I was doing when I created this project. I recognized that many of my students did not have the financial means to purchase the school’s pricey yearbook. So, I created a project that would allow my students recall significant information from the school year, incorporate writing, and create something by which to remember the school year. I had no idea how much my middle school students would value this project. Upon completion, they actually cherished their completed books as an actual yearbook by sharing them with peers and even having their friends and teachers write messages in them. I hope this project is meaningful for your students too!
