Most teachers do a lot of "getting to know you" activities during the first days of school. One of the most popular is a Scavenger Hunt, where students seek out other students who have been places or like certain things. This is, of course, a great ice-breaker and fun activity for team building.
Have you ever thought about doing a Scavenger Hunt at the end of the year? Our students are very different people from the ones who walked through the door in September and a lot of things have changed and happened. Why not celebrate those events with a Scavenger Hunt?
Each student is given a sheet and asked to walk around the classroom, interviewing their classmates. The questions include:
*Who went on a field trip? (hopefully everyone!)
*Who has a new baby at their house?
*Who went out of state on a trip?
*Who got a new pet?
This simple activity will allow your students to share these exciting events with each other, especially if they haven't shared previously. I can't think of a better way to end the school year.
