This packet of engaging activities is super-easy to use with all directions included! The only extras you may need are poster paper (optional), copies of certain books (which are rather common and probably readily available in your school library), and a few art supplies here and there, which the students probably already have.
At the end of the school year, especially after Standardized Testing is complete, I get excited to do many fun projects and activities with my students that we don't always get to do during the school year! The literacy activities in this packet are designed to either get students excited for SUMMER, continue to build CLASSROOM CULTURE, even with just a few weeks or days remaining, or cause students to REFLECT on their school year, while still reviewing academic skills like reading and writing!
*All activities include a page of steps and at least one accompanied printable, save for the letter Z.
Sample activities include:
*All About The School Year Cooperative Poster Project
*Beach-themed Literacy Centers (4)
*Writing text for the picture book Carl's Summer Vacation
*Making a Class Encyclopedia
*Making Memory Movies
*Creating Individualized Summer Reading Lists
*My Garden by Kevin Henkes Fantasy/Reality Sort & Response Page
*Making Memory Quilts
*Writing a class "Wayside School" book
And 17 others!
A variety of literature can be used with these activities, and some activities are based on the following books:
*The Keeping Quilt by Patricia Polacco
*Something Beautiful by Sharon by Sharon Dennis Wyeth
*Last Day Blues by Julie Danneberg
*Lemonade for Sale by Stuart J. Murphy
*Zen Shorts by Jon J. Muth
I hope that you and your students enjoy this packet! Thank you so much for visiting my store! :-)
