Product Description
This is a great activity for the end of the school year – particularly the last day of school! However, it can be used at ANY time of year when you’re trying to foster positive student relationships in your classroom.

With purchase you will get two options for a cover, one compliment sheet, and 10 other pages to use as memory books (if you so choose).

Prep: Print out the desired sheets. You can choose to print the color cover sheets OR the black and white sheets to save your ink. This b&w option lets students color their own turtle compliment book.

I recommend printing these sheets on cardstock so they hold up better over time and so they are easier to write on for your students.

Directions: Allow students to cut out and decorate their books however you/they deem fit.

When you are ready for students to give their compliments, give each student a piece of tape to put their “compliments” sheet on their back, like a turtle.

After each student has become a turtle, explain that this is quiet activity – because we all know turtles are quiet! Let students know that they will be walking around the room writing compliments on their classmates’ “shells”.

Create whatever rules you think are appropriate based on the grade you teach. Here are a few examples:
-You must write on everyone’s shell.
-You must write on at least 8 shells.
-You have 10 minutes to write on as many shells as you can.
-You must use full sentences.

I highly recommend allowing students to use pens or markets for this activity! Pencil fades over time, and this should be a keepsake that students will enjoy for years to come! (Just make sure they know they are signing the shell and NOT the shirt! This is another reason it’s important to use cardstock so no markers bleed through.)

Here are all of the sheets included, so you can use this activity as an end of the school year memory book or as a compliment book any time of the school year.

As you’ll see, this activity is a great boost for your students self-esteem. It shows them how much their classmates care! While great for the end of the year, a counselor or classroom teacher could use this anytime they are trying to foster a more positive classroom environment or encouraging bucket filling behaviors.
