These cards provide a way for your current students to reflect on a year’s worth of reading while reaching out to your future students. Students choose a book from the classroom library that is special to them, write about it on one of the cards, then stick the card in the book. When next year’s students comb through the shelves of their classroom library, they’ll be pleased to find some guidance from the students who were in their very same shoes a year ago. Included:
6 Card Types
Students choose which of the six cards best fits the book they want to highlight. Some cards are meant to spotlight a certain author or series, while others focus on a certain aspect of the book such as its humor or sense of adventure.
How to Use Them
Print the cards on colorful paper and put them in an accessible part of the classroom. Students choose a card based on a favorite book in the classroom library, fill it out, then stick it inside that book. Now next year’s students will begin the year with a few book suggestions from their predecessors!
