This is a great end of the year activity that is a week long art/writing project in science. The kids love it! The tunnel book is a creative way for the students to showcase something that they have learned in science over the year.
What you get:
-A step by step, 7 page student directions/guide packet with illustrations that will help students to work independently or with partners on creating both art and written work showcasing something they have learned from any of your science units.
-Within the guide, students learn how to create the tunnel book, choose a topic, and understand how to write about what they've learned from examples.
-Colored pictures are included of actual tunnel books to help you see how to build them.
-A rubric to score the tunnel books.
I did this with all of my eighty something fourth graders this year (gifted, average, EIP, special ed.). When we were done, students did a gallery walk of the projects and placed positive comments on them using sticky notes. It was a great way to end the year in science!
