My fifth grade students are very excited to get their hands on some summer reading. Parents are given this flyer so that their child has the opportunity to receive books. My homeroom students have a blast organizing all donated books into genre. Students receive a ticket from me for each book they donate prior to the Book Swap day. They come back at their assigned time for the Swap and select a book for each ticket they have. (I also keep a list of names and the tickets they received in case the tickets are lost and no one gets upset!) I usually add extra books that I may have so that those who may not have donated can still get one. I also tend to have enough to invite the "Students of the Month" from each fourth grade class to visit and select a free book. The excitement is so rewarding!
