Students step into the role of an environmentalist that works for the World Wildlife Fund! An anonymous donor just donated one million dollars to the WWF and they have been chosen to determine which species of endangered animal needs it the most.
They will have to solve long division, multiplication, and decimal addition problems to find out which animal is most in need of this large donation of money!!
This is a great Earth Day math activity or a math station activity to do anytime. The students make a prediction at the beginning of which species they think has the fewest remaining animals and it motivates them to find out.
The numbers on here are up to date as of 4/17 according to the WWF. A great way to combine science and math, and also to make students realize how close to extinction some of our planets most beautiful creatures are!
