This assignment is an activity designed to teach about endangered species. It was created for a lower level, introductory 9th grade science class but can be easily adapted to any level. It is designed specifically for threatened or endangered organisms in Illinois, but can be changed to any location. Students complete a worksheet where they search for information online. They then create a presentation (Keynote, PowerPoint, brochure, poster, or etc.) that shows what they have found. Obviously, part of the presentation focuses on the environmental aspects of why they are threatened/endangered and what is being done to protect them and their habitats. We show the projects in class so that other students learn about other endangered species as well.
