Kid World Citizen

Three detailed, non-fiction (science) reading passages about three separate endangered species: Silky Sifaka Lemur, Roloway Monkey, and Cotton-Top Tamarin. Students begin by engaging in a power point that covers important terms (endangered species, extinct, primate) and introduces the 3 endangered primates.

Next, they break into 3 groups, each with their own detailed reading passage. The students read it by themselves, and then with their group, filling out their column in the info grid. Information they are looking for includes: habitat, threats to their survival, diet, unique characteristics and behaviors, what makes them a mammal, and how we can help them.

Students present their information to the class, and the class listens and fills in the appropriate details on the info grid. Answer sheet, teacher's guide, and Common Core Standards are included.
