NOT a simple, low-level "assessment" of plot, this test features curriculum-anchored questions to author's style, indirect characterization, color symbolism, diction, figurative language, flashbacks, foreshadowing, idioms, inferences, irony, the plot diagram, point of view, recurring cultural topics, setting, sociocultural context, symbolism, themes, tragedy and a character's tragic flaws, and tone. The quiz contains high level, critical thinking questions on the understanding through evaluation levels of Bloom's revised taxonomy model. The test features 5 matching questions requiring students to match an item to its symbolism (2 points each) and 30 multiple choice questions on various concepts above (3 points each) applied to Orson Scott Card's classic, Ender's Game. Two questions ask students to synthesize plot and style to The Kite Runner, The Taming of the Shrew, Angela's Ashes, and Macbeth, but they can be deleted if desired. The test totals to 100 points. The test is in-depth but quick and easy to grade. Enjoy!
