Fun learning! In this activity students create 4 sets of booklets that set inside of each other, similar to the Russian dolls toy you may have seen (dolls inside of dolls). Not only will your students learn (or review) what "Ecosystems", "Communities", "Populations", and "Individuals" are, but, more importantly, after doing this they will certainly be able to tell you the difference between those 4 terms (can they do that right now?).
Included are 2 sets of instructions- the first is a PowerPoint you can use to lead your students, step-by-step, through making this graphic organizer; the second is a do-it-yourself set of instructions you can hand your students, and they work (mostly) on their own. Use whichever version best suits your students; they both will help your students better understand the differences between ecosystems, communities, populations, & individuals.
Since you won't have to rush through this lesson, your artistic students will appreciate how this is a lesson leaves time for drawing and color.
Key terms: Ecosystem, Community, Population, Individual, Energy
