I scripted this worksheet for my Human Anatomy & Physiology students to help them better understand the Latin root words that form the scientific compound words in the unit. The full scientific compound words broken down in this exercise are blend of hormones, medical conditions, target cells, and endocrine glands. There are twenty-four Latin roots listed with their English meaning for reference purposes on page one of the activity.
Students breakdown the meaning of fourteen complex terms that relate to the aforementioned system of the body. Students first are directed to forward slash the compound term into its root components. Then students are write the English meaning of each root to the right on the line, each separated by forward slashes. Finally students are directed to define or identify the complex/compound term in layman's terms.
Color-coated two-page answer key is included.
