MS-LS2-3: Develop a model to describe the cycling of matter and flow of energy among living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem.
The activity includes a student resource page with directions and information for the students as well as the cards the students will use to help them create a food web for a mountain ecosystem. Following the use of the cards/drawing of their mountain ecosystem food web, the students will need to use the energy flows drawn in the food web to interpret the relationships between those organisms. Their thoroughness will determine how ell they are able to answer the analysis questions contained on the student handout.
