This is the first lesson of my energy unit that aligns with the 4th Grade NGSS standards.
In this lesson, the following standard is introduced: Use evidence to construct an explanation relating the speed of an object to the energy of that object. (4-PS3-1)
This is a fun, engaging and hands-on introduction to the unit of energy. Within this lesson, students conduct a fun experiment where they can see first hand the effects of energy on the speed of an object. All of my students have loved this lesson and it gets them super excited about the rest of our energy unit. I finish my lesson with a high order question which students write reflections about in their science journals.
All of the resources needed to teach this lesson are included:
1x lesson plan
1x ppt of slides ready to teach
1x pdf of slides ready to teach
2 x worksheets to support the lesson/experiment.
1 x reflection question to promote high order thinking.
