Description
Explore Energy! Interactive lesson plans and lab exploration stations to enhance student understanding of types of potential and kinetic energy.
Students learn to classify energy types (thermal, electrical, chemical, gravitational, elastic...etc) as potential and kinetic.
Students learn about the Law of Conservation of Energy and how energy changes from one form to the next.
Students engage in 5 hands-on learning stations to explore and apply their energy knowledge. Each station has an essential question that students gather evidence to answer.
Does mass impact kinetic energy?
Does height impact potential energy?
Does temperature impact elastic potential energy?
How does motion energy transfer to thermal energy?
What different forms of energy are happening all around us?
The lab stations have easy to gather materials such as golf balls, tennis balls, sand...etc. The stations include student directions/procedures to post at the station along with a student response sheet for each essential question.
Over 25 pages of print and go materials for your classroom. Download the preview to see the table of contents and a sample of the pages included.
This was created for my 6th grade science students, but could likely be adapted for grades 5-8.
