Energy Unit: This unit is specifically aligned with North Carolina NC Essential Standards and closely follows the unpacked standards for the 6th grade unit on Energy. However, this also is an awesome teaching tool for any Energy unit focusing on Thermal Energy.
Included in the PPT are:
-Lesson Plans in EATS format
-Print off of Unpacked Standards for Teacher Notebook.
-Great tool to keep your lessons focused and keep you on track
-Pre-test and Pre-test answer key. (2 pre-tests per page)
-Great tool to utilize to know which areas of the unit to focus on and which areas can be rushed through. Also a great tool to use along with post-test scores for administrative documentation to show student growth!
Pre-Test is also available in Google Forms Format
-Post-test and Post-test answer key
-Review Slides following test to use for test review
-Study guide to be sent home for test
-Guided Notes: These are notes that go along with the unit power point and allows students with written accommodations to take notes efficiently. I have also included these notes with the answers, which are easy to print off for absent students.

-4 Demonstrations to be used in classrooms with limited supplies
-2 Mini Labs to be used in classroom with limited supplies
-4 Guided Video Notes (must have discovery education account to access 2 of the videos)
-Presentation Slides teaching in detail the unpacked standards of this entire unit, necessary background information, and digging deep areas! Things that I require my students to write in their notes are in red
-Slides for student use to post to google classroom!
-Types of Energy Transfer Sort digital Google assignment
-Thermal Energy Transfer Table digital Google assignment
-Electromagnetic Wave Sort digital Google assignment
-ENERGY BINGO to use as review of the unit!
-Quizlet and Kahoot Review Links
The unit covers:
-what is energy
-4 types of Energy Transfer: Mechanical, Thermal, Electromagnetic Waves, and Electrical.
-The difference between heat and temperature
-thermal equilibrium , thermal expansion,
-The focus in on thermal energy and the different ways thermal energy can transfer (conduction, convection, and radiation).
-Conductors and insulators are covered
-Energy Conservation: energy can’t be created or destroyed, it only changes form
-the sun is our major source of energy/light
-light as a type of energy traveling as an electromagnetic wave
-properties of light
-the different interactions light can go through when in contact with matter
-Ultraviolet Light, Infrared Light, and Visible Light
-the influence light has on an objects temperature.
