*All SMARTboard slides are meant to be used in conjunction with the Engage NY Lesson Materials provided in each module that can be downloaded directly from the Engage NY website for 3rd grade.
Here are Lessons 1 through 4 for Third Grade Module 5 Topic A. Lessons are in a workshop style, where students are taken through a short Warm-Up, a direct instruction lesson, and then released into groups. After groups or centers, students will independently complete the Engage NY Exit Ticket (or similar Exit Slip) and write on it using the Self-Assessment coding on the Exit Ticket slide. You may do a short wrap-up and the lesson is complete.
The "Packet" section of the groups are for students to complete their Engage NY Problem Set. The "Game" section can be used for an enrichment activity. "Teacher" time is for students to meet with you for extra help or an extension.
You can click on the Groups and edit student names and titles.
Lesson 4 was combined with a Science Lesson. I bought different types of fruits and vegetables and had students cut each fruit or vegetable into fractional pieces. Students then used the Problem Set to record what each table had done in a Carousel. We then saved the seeds to plant later for our Plants unit.
Lessons (mostly) include:
I will statements with CCSS standard
Vocabulary (I used this slide with ASL as Whole Brain Teaching)
Warm Ups (use with math journals or personal white boards)
Direct Instruction Lesson
Math Group/Centers time
Exit Ticket with Self-Assessment
Hope you enjoy these slides, and if you have any questions please ask!
