FREE PREVIEW: Module 1 Lesson 1 Guided Notes
This resource has changed the way that my students learn math and has made management of Engage NY lessons. It's a game changer, friends!
I absolutely adore Engage NY math, but I have found that because there is no textbook for students to follow along with during the Concept Development. I love that ENY encourages student discussion and explanation, but found that my students' responses are much stronger when they have a chance to write first. This allows them safety of thinking and owning their answer before having to share. This resource includes guided notes for Engage NY Grade 3 Module 1 Lesson 1. I have taken the language directly out of the lessons and modified it to make it student friendly.
When I make these copies for my students, I staple the notes directly to the Problem Set and Homework, so they can take them all home to use as a resource to help with homework. Parents LOVE it!
I also utilize whiteboards in my classroom. For most cases, the notes only include the first example given. ENY always gives multiple examples for each problem, which I have my students complete on their whiteboards. They simply have their whiteboards under their notes so there is no loss of instructional time.
I also end each lesson with a self-assessment opportunity for students to review their progress toward the objective.
