This is a Powerpoint that takes EngageNY's Math 8-M1-L1 and "scripts" it out for the instructor. We have a severe middle school teacher shortage in our district and have had sub after sub in our 7th and 8th grade math classrooms. In response, I created very directly related Powerpoints for the subs to go through as the kids completed the work. This gave my poor kiddos some consistency in their math classroom. I also added videos when possible to help with the how-to and understanding.
This is great to use for new teachers, new math teachers, teachers that are teaching Math but aren't 100% comfortable with it, someone using EngageNY, intervention, and for any substitute situation.
Lesson 1 Covers: 8th Grade Level Exponential Notation
Focus Standard: 8.EE.A.1: Know and apply the properties of integer exponents to generate equivalent numerical expressions. For example, 3^2 x 3^-5 = 3^-3 = 1/3^3 = 1/27.
