Our district adopted the EngageNY curriculum for both math and ELA starting this past year. The materials are free through the EngageNY website, but the materials only consist of Teacher Instructions.
My 7th graders needed something much more concrete.
So I began a system of creating Student Activity Packets, which include graphic organizers for each activity, writing assignment break-downs, vocabulary practice worksheets, Power Point Presentations for background information, etc.
This resource is a graphic organizer for Lesson 11 of Unit 1 Lyddie. The packet follows the script precisely and includes the learning targets, the mini-lesson "Quotes to Discuss," the graphic organizer for "Considering Evidence," student directions for the "Quote Sandwich," Teacher Scripts (in brief), and Teacher Notes for conducting the lesson.
I currently have packets for the entire Reading Closely Unit, (Antarctica), Evidence-Based Claims (Cesar Chavez), Module 1 (A Long Walk to Water) and Module 2A (Lyddie). Check back next year as I will have to design packets for Module 2b.
