This unit creatively engages students in the writing process. Students will go through the process in six days and create a "survivor story" about being stranded on a deserted island. Their narratives will include a variety of correctly structured sentences. Sentence worksheets are included and able to be formatted.

Common Core Standard: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.9-10.1. Use various types of phrases (noun, verb, adjectival, adverbial, participial, prepositional, absolute) and clauses (independent, dependent; noun, relative, adverbial) to convey specific meanings and add variety and interest to writing or presentations.

TEKS:

1.A: Students will engage in meaningful and respectful discourse. By listening, speaking, discussion, and thinking.

1.B: Follow an give complex oral instructions.

1.C: Give presentation using informal language to meet the needs of the audience.

1.D: Participate collaboratively, building on the ideas of others, contributing relevant information, developing a plan for consensus building, and setting ground rules for decision making.
