If you are looking for the perfect lesson to break down the difficult topic of Mercantilism than you have come to the right place. Find an exciting do now activity that breaks down the various aspects of natural resources, raw materials and the process! Find an interactive map that demonstrates the process with Mercantilism and an exciting scaffolded political cartoon! I used this lesson with my students and they really understood the topic!
The Do Now includes great visuals of raw materials and manufactured goods. Students are invited to answer a series of questions and this is a great way to activate prior knowledge and solicit a discussion based on the students findings.
Students will go onto the following page to see an authentic map which includes the United States and Great Britain which demonstrates the difference between an import and an export.
The following page will show the famous political cartoon about the mother country with the thirteen colonies and students will answer a series of questions.
This worksheet is in both English and Spanish.
