A great way to incorporate engineering into your reading lesson.
Based on the book: Cliffords Family
"We have just finished reading the wonderful story of Clifford’s Family. The Big Red Dog's mother, father, brother, and sisters are scattered all over a big city and live very different lives. They may all live apart, but they will always love each other. And they all make their owners very, very happy!
Clifford is feeling a little home sick now and would love to visit his family again. He wants to arrive with a present this time; one of his precious tennis balls for them to play with. Clifford is worried that if he carries the tennis ball in his mouth he may lose it or become too tired to carry it the entire distance. He needs to think of a way to protect the tennis ball and make it easy to travel with."
Design and construct a container for Clifford to safely transport his toy tennis ball to his family when he visits. Choose one of Clifford’s family members from the story and design your container to be especially for that particular person.
Inside you will find master colored copies of the challenge basics and rules for classroom rules + A black and white student set where they will reflect on their design process. Check the preview to see more!
