Engineering cycle cards are visually guide students as they problem solve and move through the design process during science experiments and STEM challenges. Students move forwards and backwards through the five stages of the cycle. They are used independently or during team activities and challenges. This set encourages students to investigate possible solutions, then make modifications to their designs.

Engineering Cycle Cards:

There are full and half-page versions of these cards, both in color and black-line versions. Hole punching the five cards together and attaching metal rings or yarn will help keep the cards in order.

During project work time, student-engineers will keep these cards in their work area. As students move from one phase to the next, they will rotate the cards. This will allow the instructor to easily see what part of the design cycle groups are work on at any given time.

Engineering Cycle Reflection:

At the conclusion of the project, students will reflect on each step in the engineering cycle. They will explain how they utilized the design process to create their STEAM/STEM projects.
