This video guide is for The History Channel's popular China: Engineering an Empire documentary video (individual episodes are available on YouTube, or DVDs can be purchased from the History Channel). The guide is divided into five sections which covers the major social, cultural, and political events of Ancient and Classical China, and focuses on dynastic change that has kept China intact for over 4000 years. There are a total of 28 narrative questions with fill in the blank answers that span the 45 minute video. The narrative question format is designed to focus and engage the students throughout the video, and to allow for followup discussion. Included is a teachers key with answers and time codes for starting and stopping the video at each of the major sections. This is an excellent activity to introduce China or can be effectively used throughout any historical period in a course.
