This video guide is for The History Channel's popular Egypt: Engineering an Empire documentary video (individual episodes are available on YouTube, or DVDs can be purchased from the History Channel). The guide is divided into four sections: (1) Introduction; (2) The Old Kingdom; (3) The Middle Kingdom; and (4) The New Kingdom, which covers the major historical periods of Ancient Egypt. There are a total of 35 narrative questions with fill in the blank answers that span the 90 minute video. The narrative question format is designed to focus and engage the students throughout the video, and to allow for followup discussion. Included is a teachers key with answers and time codes for starting and stopping the video at each of the major sections. This is an excellent activity to introduce Egypt in particular, or Ancient Civilizations in general.
