Add some fun to any drab bulletin board (and grab students’ attention!) with this print-and-post set of 12 month-at-a-glance calendars featuring 365 days of facts and important dates from the worlds of literature, film, music, and art.
Built with the interests of teens in mind, you’ll find a wide variety of factoids included in “This Day in Arts and Letters” calendar with the aim of hooking students’ attention and hopefully inspiring them to want to learn more about the people and works mentioned. Post each month’s calendar on a classroom bulletin board and/or use a particular day’s fun fact as a conversation starter.
This download includes both a 2020-2021 version and a 2021-2022 version with the same content but dates adjusted accordingly. In future years, the calendar will be updated to reflect accurate monthly calendar days/dates at no additional cost to you. When the time comes in late spring/early summer, you’ll re-download this item from the “My Purchases” area in your TpT account to receive the version with calendar dates shifted for the next academic year. This is a 12-page PDF of 8.5 x 11 inch pages.
Also, please note that this list of fun facts/important dates was researched and compiled by a U.S. teacher for use with her students. While the topics include diverse works and artists from around the globe, there is definitely an American filter at work here. If you’re teaching students who are learning about U.S. culture, this calendar will also help them discover writers and artists that Americans deem noteworthy.
