This product has links to two original fairy tales by the Grimm Brothers, Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood. Students love reading the original fairy tales because they are much different and more gruesome than the versions they heard growing up.
It's difficult to make STAAR prep engaging, but I can honestly say that reading these stories caught the kids' interests when I used them with my students!
Along with links to the stories, this download has three short-answer questions with answer boxes. There is one single-selection short answer for each story, as well as crossover/double-selection short answer question where students must pull evidence from both stories. Also included is a graphic organizer, using the RACE (restate, answer, cite explain) method, if you choose to teach short answers this way.
Aside from reading the stories and practicing short answer responses, this is a great time to review inferences and characterization. To meet these two standards, there is a character chart where students are asked to analyze the characters' actions and infer their personality traits.
