This interesting and useful 13 slide PowerPoint presentation “A Day at the Zoo” is a short story using the simple past tense of regular and irregular verbs and my own colorful photography. This lesson focuses on the use of the simple past tense in affirmative and negative sentences. It is appropriate for beginning students of English as a Second or Foreign Language.
There are 3 different worksheet activities for the classroom:
1) Fill in the blanks using the simple past tense.
2) Answer simple past tense questions regarding the story.
3) Make the sentences negative.
The answer key pages are included.
Please print color copies (landscape orientation) for students to use in class.
