This is an essential speaking, writing and listening activity. It is a set of 40 task cards asking questions with “How” in the present, past and future tenses. It is appropriate for beginning and intermediate students of English as a Second or Foreign Language.
You can put the task cards face down in a plastic bowl or small box. Each student could take turns choosing a task card and asking the student nearest to him/her a question. The teacher could ask individual students to repeat the other students’ responses. This is good for listening comprehension. The teacher could also ask students to write their responses.
Some of the questions are as follows:
How do you spell your name?
How do you say “hello” in your native language?
How did you find your job?
How long did you live in your country?
How will you celebrate your birthday?
How will you enjoy the Christmas vacation?
There are 11 PowerPoint slides. Please print 4 task cards on one landscape page (horizontal) in PowerPoint. You can print on white card stock paper. It is a good idea to use a paper cutter. These task cards should be laminated for longevity. Each task card is 5 inches width by 4 inches height.
My students really enjoy task card activities!
Have fun teaching!
