This is a great, easy way to get students to compile notes on a specific symbol/theme/staging elements.
It's an easy activity to mark as well!
Since "The Glass Menagerie" is such a short unit at my school, which we teach in a week, I don't have them do scene questions, but rather this activity instead.
They become an EXPERT on a particular topic, and you assign this right at the start.
Then as you read, they take notes only on their assigned topic.
At the end, they share their notes with other group members who had a DIFFERENT topic, and they all share together, creating a set of group notes.
I informally mark their presentations based on their notes + contribution to the group. Easy and quick
It teaches them the important skill of sharing - that breaking down topics, and working together, is a really helpful study strategy.
